Thoughts of Bill

Bill was, absolutely, one of the kindest persons I've ever met. I first "met" him on the telephone when I called to ask about cello lessons from Marj. He very nicely, yet rather firmly, semi-grilled me as to why I wanted to take cello lessons! I wasn't prepared for that, stammered a bit, & wondered if I should pursue this. I'm so very glad I did. Among the many delightful things I learned about Bill was his deep love and appreciation for Marj. I'm sure he wanted to know who this stranger was, wanting to impinge on Marj's time & talents, & I'm glad I passed his review! Bill was a wonderful story teller & I loved to listen to him share his life's experiences. We talked of many things -- his life in Calgary, his arrival in Pearl Harbor during WWII, the Dust Bowl years, his children & family … he was a very, very proud father & grandfather. Bill had such a fabulous ability to share joy! He took absolute delight in showing me around his work shop & showing me his projects. One of those times, he was working on a dog house for Buddy, I remember it well. What a laugh we had when he told me later that it was too big to exit his work shop without taking some of it apart! The last time I saw Bill, even though he could not raise his head from the pillow, he thanked me for coming to visit. That was after he told me that Marj is wonderful. Yes, Marj is wonderful, I could not agree more. So was Bill. He was a remarkable man whom I will sorely miss.
